Slide 17: ALCATEL 7300 ADVANCED SERVICES ACCESS MANAGER
The Alcatel 7300 ASAM offers high density with low power consumption and provides a direct connection to ATM or Ethernet network, using the Fast Ethernet Network Termination (FENT) card. The FENT provides a secure, standards-compliant approach that meets the needs of metropolitan and rural subscribers. The Alcatel 7300 ASAM features a multi-ADSL line card for plain old telephone service (POTS). With multi-ADSL, service providers can deploy multiple types of asymmetric DSL (ADSL, ADSL2, ADSL2plus, and READSL2) from a single DSLAM within the central office. Further, the granularity of the service offering is on per-port basis. Individual lines can be configured at run-time for an individual user profile and the connected CPE. As customers' needs change, the service provider can easily migrate a customer from one type of ADSL to another. The Alcatel 7300 ASAM also allows service providers to take advantage of two new technology enhancements associated with ADSL2: bonding and Annex M. ADSL bonding increases the bandwidth available to some customers during peak periods and enables the delivery of some IP video services. ADSL bonding also extends the reach of the DSL service and enables the delivery of symmetric business services. Annex M offers the option to boost upstream capacity, allowing service providers to target customers who are require a symmetric-like service (e.g., business customers and teleworkers).
Sample cases for DSL services: VoDSL, VoD, IPTV
Responsibility: - Product training – both, for Alcatel’s employees and for customers - Technical support - Product marketing – presentations, fair participation - Sales support, marketing & business presentation
17
Slide 18: ALCATEL 5523 ADSL WORK STATION
The Alcatel 5523 ADSL Work Station (AWS) is the premiere element manager designed to deliver a complete management solution for Alcatel's ETSI-based broadband access platforms. The Alcatel 5523 AWS enables remote support of network elements, including provisioning, software downloads, database backup and restore, fault management and disaster recovery. An intelligent GUI translates simple point-and-click actions into complex management information base (MIB) variables and sequences of TL1 or SNMP commands. As the network grows, operations become more complex, requiring sophisticated management tools to cope with the expanding number of lines and network elements. Complex network infrastructure is easily managed with the Alcatel 5523 AWS, enhancing operational efficiency and profitability. Using template- and profile-based provisioning enables the rapid reuse of defined configurations, decreasing activation time and increasing accuracy. The integrated hierarchical alarm view efficiently manages all device alarms and consolidates the information. Large-scale DSL deployments require scalable, dependable equipment with a disaster recovery guarantee. The Alcatel 5523 AWS has the capability to scale with your network up to 4,000 nodes and 4 million lines. The Alcatel 5523 AWS (Release 6.4) provides the option to incorporate the Alcatel 5540 Operations Support System Interface (OSSI) module. This module enables integration into an upper OSS. Current functionality supports network element export, alarm export and physical inventory. To increase broadband penetration rates, the Alcatel 5523 AWS supports all versions of DSL, while providing remote element management for the entire family of Alcatel remote units (RUs) and multiservice DSL access multiplexers (DSLAMs). Management is integrated, regardless of whether the service type is high-speed Internet access (HSIA) or triple play. Hardware management is simplified, using the graphical network element view. Key Features - Functions as a stand-alone element manager or as part of a layered telecommunications management network (TMN) application - Supports remote configuration, fault and security management - Based on UNIX-based client-server architecture, with OSS interface - Supports up to 4,000 network elements and 4 million DSL connections on a single system - Detects presence of pre-assigned equipment and configurations automatically - Categorizes alarms and status reports and lists active alarms - Enables TL1 cut-through and flowthrough provisioning
Responsibility: - Product training – both, for Alcatel’s employees and for customers - Technical support - Product marketing – presentations, fair participation - Sales support, marketing & business presentation
