Suffering a breakup can be as heartbreaking as loosing a loved one. The excruciating pain, fizzled hope/aspiration and the shortlived dreams further add to the agony. The heart suddenly becomes frozen and the mind becomes a track for series of racing thoughts. However, it's never the end of the world, the earth just spun once again taking you to a starting point to retrace your step on better grounds. It is part of human life to disappoint, either intentional or unintentional, at one point or the other. A known fact is that there cannot be a breakup without an accompanying disappointment. Humans cannot do without disappointing each other and it is the survival of these chains of disappointment that makes you a real man/woman. It takes a real man/woman to survive a disappointment and, needless to say, a breakup. The following point are germane to surviving such relationship break up" 1. Be Courageous Firstly, being courageous and ready to get out of self-pity is the first step to surviving a breakup while the reverse would only add to the agony. With a courageous mindset, you can shrug it off just like any other disappointment. Many victims of breakup, especially ladies, find it very hard to endure because they resort to self-pity. But really, why cant you get over it just like you would do when your tailor failed to deliver your wedding gown for your wedding? Would you because of that starve yourself to death? NO! It's not worth it! 2. Be Optimistic Secondly, having an optimistic mindset is a significant step in the right direction. Just like you would prefer to remain optimistic if you lost your child, hoping that God will provide another. Loosing a partner to breakup is, however, far less heartbreaking than loosing a child. The only difference is how you take it. Acknowledging that there are far more better guys/ladies out there will do a lot in consoling and getting you over it. 3. Do Not Harbour Hurt Feelings Thirdly, You have to forgive him/her to hasten your recovery. A person who harbours resentment is like a hooked fish, both are controlled by someone else. As long as you keep nursing the "hurt" you will not move on with your life. See him/her as the bigger looser but don't wish him evil as devilish thoughts will only make you realise how badly he/she treated you. Occupy yourself with what you like doing e.g reading, watching movies, skating, fishing etc. This will go a long way in healing your broken heart and before you know it, she/he is totally out of your life.
Slide 2: 4. Do Not Close Your Mind To Future Relationships Lastly, give room for other people to come into your life. Being in the company of friends and family always will do a lot in reducing your lonely periods. And above all, do not allow what has happened to distort your mentality about the opposite sex. All men/women are not the same! Do not overreact by refusing to eat, socialise, etc. It is like making a storm out of a teacup. After all, you are not the first to suffer a breakup and you will not be the last... So, why slow down your world just because a guy/lady left you? Pick up your life, learn from what has happened and move on!
