Slide 1: J.I. Jake, Luke O’cyte, and Jing Jing meet in Chengdu, China
Hi folks, Luke and I had a nice journey in China this summer. This is the first time that Luke has been to China while it is my second one. We went to Sichuan province, the south west of China where we call on Jing Jing, the giant panda. Jake, do you like bamboo?
Luke, Jing Jing likes us. She wants to hug us!
Jing Jing is the prototype of Fuwa Jing Jing of the official Mascots of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (CRBGPB). She was born in Chengdu, Sichuan, China on 30th Augest 2005. Both Jing Jing’s families and she are super stars. Ya Ya, Jing Jing’s Mum has been assigned as the prototype of the official mascot of the Beijing 1990 Asia Games. She surprised the world when she was born in 1990 for being the first alive twins after birth. As was born on the day of the ceremony of opening of the Olympic Games Barcelona 1992, Jing Jing’s Dad was nominated as Cobi, the Olympic mascots by Juan Antonio Samaranch, the former president of International Olympic Committee. We met Jing Jing’s friends, other giant pandas and the red pandas in CRBGPB as well. It is a great opportunity that we could get to know Jing Jing’s family who is famous for their stories with the Olympic Games before the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. We wish them a happy and healthy year.
