The first thing you should so is talk to a doctor for tips. Switching to a raw food is not for everyone and you should make sure your overall health is OK before getting started. A raw diet consists of around 75% raw foods. You do not want to switch from a cooked diet to an uncooked diet in one day as this can actually shock your body and digestive system. For years you have consumed cooked foods and your body has become accustomed to processing those types of foods. It would be recommended that beginners start gradually by eating just one raw meal a day. You can then proceed to slowly work your way toward eating raw at each meal. Eating a raw food diet has a detoxifying effect on your body. Eating raw foods will actually cleanse the body of toxins and your digestion will likely improve. It should be noted that there are possible side effects of a raw food diet. Some side effects that are experiences are headaches and nausea, and in some cases mild depression. Have no fear as these are only symptoms of your body making adjustments. However, if these symptoms persist over a long period of time you should decrease the amount of raw food you are consuming and talk to your doctor or nutritionist. A very important tip is to plan your meals, especially when just getting started. You will likely have cravings for certain foods when you get started. Most notably, sugar and salt because you body does not make them. Many raw fruits and vegetables have natural salts and sugars in them. Adjust your diet as you monitor your bodily changes. Consider adding dietary supplements to your diet. Aloe vera gel is a good example of a dietary supplement. However, there are many more supplements available at your local health food store. It is important for you to looking into other raw dieting options as you go. The purpose of a raw diet is to improve your health and the last thing you want to do is make it worse. Another thing to keep in mind is that you do not want to mix your raw food diet with a cooked diet. This doesn't mean you should never eat cooked foods but mean that when you are eating a meal you don't want to mix them. The reason for this is that when you mix cooked foods with your raw diet you will neutralize many of enzymes and nutrients in the raw food. Starting a raw food diet for weight loss can be very effective but is not for everyone. You should consult a physician before getting started.
