Stieg Larsson is probably one of the most interesting and intriguing modern writers I know about. Not only are his novels including The Girl Who Played with Fire published only after his death in 2004, he didn't even have any plans in having them published, ever. What's more interesting is that Stieg Larsson got even more controversial after his death than when he was alive. He wrote The Girl Who Played with Fire whenever he got home from his day job, never wanting anything it to become famous, let alone controversial and sought after. The novel was also critically-acclaimed and has won Best Swedish Crime Novel in 2006 and the only novel in the series that was translated and had become number one in the UK. If Stieg Larsson were alive today, I don't know how we would feel about all the controversy and fame he and his novels have received. Given his reputation and his background, I doubt he'll be thrilled about all the attention, but fortunately for us, we have been given a chance to read his novels. The Girl Who Played with Fire is a crime novel which centers about Mikael Blomkvist, a publisher who also exposes corrupt Swedish figures. One day he is approached by a young journalist comes to him with information about sex trafficking in Sweden which involves important people in high offices, he finds himself compelled to do something about it. In his quest to find the truth behind the sex trafficking, he is joined by Lisbeth Salander, a formerly abused, bisexual, tattooed, computer-hacking kickboxing expert. Together, they risk their lives and go to places they don't belong to, and get tangled with the mess they shouldn't belong in. The story is really interesting, and very worthy of praises it's getting. The Girl Who Played with Fire is a sequel to Stieg Larsson's second novel in the series The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
