The information on bipolar disorder and how to deal with this illness is quite good; a nice overall look at the problem and coping with it. However, two problems are creating obstacles in many cases: First, manic-depressives often refuse to consistently take their medications and/or have the dosages monitored and, second, frequently do not get the guidance and support they so desperately need. That is one of the salient points of my recently released biographical novel, Broken Saint. It is based on my forty-year friendship with a bipolar man, and chronicles his internal and external struggles as he battles for stability and acceptance (of himself and by others).
