Look, a healthy sex life is good for a healthy relationship. If you're happy in your relationship, you're more likely to be in the mood for sex. Two things to fix tonight If things aren't going great in your relationship, chances are your sex life is practically non-existent and/or unsatisfying. After you've been together for a while, it's normal for the spontaneity in your sex life to decrease. You may become more specific about what you actually want and need during sex - this is normal and OK! As we add in more 'stuff to do' in and around your relationship (tidying up, cooking, looking after kids, managing finances) we start to feel busier, and look for someone to blame for being so harried and busy, and your partner is often Chief Suspect. You feel resentful. Feeling resentful towards someone does not = being in the mood! So to figure out how to improve your sex life, we'll need to fix the two things we just mentioned lack of awareness of each others' sexual needs, and ending the resentment from feeling busy and hassled all the time, that's stopping you wanting sex. So, what floats your sexy boat? You may not have a relationship where you both openly talk about what you specifically want and need during sex. But you both need to be more open - neither of you are psychic or some smooth love guru! So have a chat for a while about the following:

Do you wish your partner would initiate things more or less? Would either of you like to be more experimental? If so, what kind of things? What about instructions - would either of you like more or less during sex? Finally, what do you both actually want from sex and what can you do to deliver? Stop the Busyness: Restart the Sexiness It's no surprise that couples don't put effort into their sex lives, when we feel so busy and resentful all the time. So talk to each other for 10-15 minutes about what you can do to reduce the number of plates you are both spinning, and increase the time you have to focus on spending time together, which will lead to more time for sex. So all I'm saying is, stop trying to guess what each other wants out of your sex life now that the novelty of being together has worn off. Take ONE night, pour a glass of wine, and just have an open chat about it. The more you are open with one another, the more likely you'll figure out how to improve your sex life!
