One of the most well-liked manufacturers of ice hockey equipment such as skates, gloves and sticks along with goalkeeper gear is Bauer Performance Sports Ltd (otherwise known as Nike Bauer between 2005 and 2008). Bauer has the distinction of being the first manufacturer to manufacture ice hockey skates where the blade was permanently linked to the boot. This innovation was initially sold with the name of Bauer Supreme with the boot being manufactured by Bauer and the blade by the now extinct Starr Manufacturing Company.
